Will this clutch hold my stroker
Will this clutch hold my stroker
I'm going to be running a 383 and I am currently looking for a good clutch setup for mostly street driving and one track vist a week. Hoping to make around 450-475 HP. I was thinking about a LT4 pp and Mcleod single disk. Like most people, I dont have $1,000.00 to spend on the street twin (nor the money for a 12 bolt or 9 inch which would surely follow) and I have heard too many bad things to even try SPEC. Any owners info would be helpful as to good and bad experiences. A friend of mine is using CARTEK in his 10 sec T/A. But i dont know too much on that company. Any help and where the best place to get these clutches is greatly appreciated. thanks
I dont kno the diff in PP's but i kno the lt4's kick tail. Ive never heard of cartek. Spec ive heard boths sides on. Im running the setup you thinking about, with an aluminum flywheel and it works great. Good luck.
I was looking at their single disk setup and emailed them and it seems to me that the deep discount they mentioned was only 4 dollars off. Not trying to bust their *****...they do seem to have the best prices on the disk itself. But again I cant finance a 12 bolt if I go with the street twin and I know I wont be able to keep from launching hard when I get this stroker going.
I understand about the $$$, but there's nothing about the Street Twin that will break the rear end unless you do high rpm clutch drops on sticky tires. Yes, under those circumstnaces the clutch will hold and the rear may break. But any cltuch that won't slip will do that. The best thing you can do to make a stock rear last with an M6 is to avoid clutch drops, especially with stickies. Let it slip just a bit.

Isnt it true that the street twin disk is rebuildable? What do you call high rpm launch Rich? I would consider a street twin especially at tbyrne's price if I was sure I could use it with shattering my rearend. I've never done more than 3500rpm's when launching just so I dont smoke the tires on the launch Would my rearend last for a while with that rpm launch and only one track visit a week and mostly street driving. Wont even be a daily driver a long as my s-10 holds out

Yes, McLeod will rebuild the ST. For ~$400 they will make it good as new.
