Torque arm

Do I really need the torque arm on my car? I'm thinking about going to true duals but . . . that arm!

TIA

what kind of mods does it have? what kind of use is the car for? is there a reason you think a TA is worth buying?

it will boost your straight line traction, as well as help in the corners. but as a first mod...NO WAY. much better things to do before that

It's all stock. Probably not going to see any track time & it's my daily driver. I guess I will just go with the magnaflow cat back and call it a day. Only mod is a 160 t-stat. I'm going to send out the pcm to maximize performance and that's about it. The car just had a full tune up, msd wires 8.5's, NGK's, delco optispark, water pump & a fuel pump.

I thought you were asking could you delete the torque arm. If so, the answer is "no".... it keeps the nose of the pinion from rotating upward under load.

That's right, your torque arm actually holds the rear axle in line with the rear of the transmission. If you remove it, the rear axle will rotate upward severely. Be careful if you take it off, read the shop manual for the procedures, the rear axle has a lot of tension on the torque arm.

You need the torque arm nearly as much as you need a crankshaft!
