TIme ran out on my 10 bolt but I have one question
Well after sitting behind the street twin for about 6 months now my rearend finally gave up, and a few of the teeth on the pinion gear broke off. I wont be able to afford a 12 bolt for another month or so which I have been saving for anyways my question is Is it worth fixing??
The summer is getting shorter by the day and If I fix it I will have it back on the road sooner but I am not sure how big of a job it is. Does the whole rearend have to come out to change the ring and pinion gear or can it be done in the car. I will have to get someone to set the gears up for me, but other then that I can do the rest myself.

The gears can be done in the car
(had to change them myself a couple months ago!
). Support the frame on jack stands, and let the diff hang as low as it can so it's easier to access
. For what a set of gears cost, I'd replace the ring & pinion for now (try to find some used off e-Bay or something) then get the 12-bolt once you've got the funds (and when you break the gears again!!
