Th200?
Th200?
Hi guys !
I might be able to get a Th200, but i don't know anything about these transmissions? How many gears does it have? Is it the same as a Th350 ?
i think i heard something about it having 3 gears without OD ?
I'll be thankful for any info and links
regards
ps/ will this Th200 fit a 305 c.i. 1991 TBI engine (from a Camaro). thx
EDIT============
what kind of power can the Th200 hold ? is it a good transmission? was it fitted in f-bodies ??

Re: Th200?
The 200 is a very light duty 3 speed transmission. I stress LIGHT duty. It was the 3 speed version of the 2004R (4spd) that was most popular in Grand Nationals. To make them last in a GN we have to do alot of work to them. You'd have to do alot of work to a 200 to make it work/last also.
To make one work in an F-Body, you'd have to make sure it has a V-8 bell housing, as most were used behing V-6's. And you'd have to make sure it has provisions for a torque arm on the tail. They did use 200's in early 3rd gens, but remember...Those were the days when V-8's only had 160 HP
.
I certainly wouldn't waste my time with a 200.

If you get any 200, get the 200-4R. They do take some work to hold a lot of power... but they can be made to work. Check this out:

WE4 is Bruce Toelle. He's known for building the strongest R4s around. A few have been behind 800+ hp GNs for a number of seasons without mechanical failure. The info in that post can also be found on his website that you find in his sig. I think he can make it work with a chevy BH pattern too.
