Testing the reverse lockout solenoid??

I have the transmission out and was wondering how to test it. Do I just apply 12V to it, or no?

It runs off 12V, so that would be an appropriate way to check it. If you want the resistance of a healthy solenoid, I'll measure one I have in the garage.

That's what I did with mine. Mine ended up have a corroded (sp?) connector, so it wouldn't make any connection.

Thanks! I'll put some juice to it and see what happens.

Forgot to ask. Does polarity matter?

One of the pins inside the thing is broken off. I did hear it click ONCE, though. I guess I hit the right SPOT?!

I guess parts houses carry these things?

I took off the solenoid and got it out in the light where I could see good and the pin was only BENT. Staightened it up and it works like a new one!

Thanks guys!
