Just would like to know if it is better to get a TCI Trans or a rebuilt trans from CPT or Probuilt??? Which one is better, not just because of the brand, but more specifically due to the build/rebuild quality and parts used???

This will be on a 1988 Firebird GTA that will see power increases in the future. Trans is a 700R4.

 

CPT hands down. Never heard anything bad about CPT, all positive stuff, and I can vouch for Frank's work. I couldn't be happier with my CPT trans, and Frank's awesome customer service/care. It's nice knowing all quality parts were used, and extra care was taken by someone who knows what they are doing

 

TCI is crap, took them 4 tries to get my 700r right and when they sent the one that worked it was missing a chunk of the bellhousing. thanks TCI

Do yourself a favor, call up CPT, and call Dana @ Probuilt.
I went with Probuilt in my thirdgen, and could not be more impressed with the product, customer service and owner of the company (Dana).

CPT all the way. Unless your on the west coast, then it would make sense to ship it to Probuilt instead.

 

I've had both (TCI and Pro Built)...Pro Built made the TCI unit look like it was built by Walmart.

Can't go wrong either way with PB or CPT, both have great reputations.

 

TCI's converters suck. So I wouldn't think that bodes well for their trannies.
