TC Lockup Question

on my 93 Z i know the 5 prong connector that goes into the transmission controls the lock up but does it control anything else. The reason i ask is i want to play around with not having the converter lock up during my runs at the track and was curious if you could just unplug that connector to have it not lock up? Or will it mess something up if i do that? Thanks in advance

Re: TC Lockup Question

i believe, but it depends on the transmission and updates it has received, but i believe that on that car assuming it has the 4l60e, that the shift points and lockup are controlled by that plug

there are ways of disabling lockup however, there is a monte carlo site that tells you how to do it in 3rd gens, i'm sure a site has a cheap trick in 4th gens, but summitracing.com also sells a B&M kit that will disable it as well.

just remember to keep it on for driving and off for quarter mile alone, or you'll smoke that tranny

Re: TC Lockup Question

Your transmission is a 4L60/700. It's still hydraulically controlled, so the plug your referring to is for lock-up only.
Disconnecting the plug makes no sense, though. your converter should never lock up when you're at WOT, anyway.

Shoot your tuner...LOL. Make him reflash it, so it's locking when it's supposed to.
