T56 swap for a Cleveland.

Perhaps this is the wrong forum for asking about a Ford, but here goes. My uncle is putting his old 351 Cleveland from his Mustang into a pickup truck. He was originally thinking of running a 3-speed automatic, but I think I've talked him into running a stick. I know Mcleod makes a bellhousing adaptor to mate a T56 to the Cleveland block.

Here's my question: what all would be involved with getting a clutch to work with an LT1/LS1 style T56 mated up to a Cleveland? Any input would be appreciated.

The tranny wouldn't be the issue, it'd be the bellhousing. I'd hazard a guess that it's setup for a conventional style clutch, but your best bet is to call McLeod.

You really need to ask McLeod. They show the 64-95 Ford bellhousing adapter to work with the T56 from the Cobra. I don't know if anyone here is going to know about the clutch in a Cobra T56.

Trying to use a LT1 T56 or a LS1 T56 would be problems due to the wierd bell housing length (and input shaft) on these transmissions. You'll probably need a Cobra T56 or a Viper T56. I also would talk to Don Walsh @ D&D. They're T56 guys and do mostly Ford stuff as well. As stated, Red at Mcleod is very knowledgeable also. Red is an incredible resource when it comes to clutches and setups.

The advice seems universally to favor calling Mcleod directly. Thanks for the input, anyway.
