T56 donor cars

Other than the obvious F-body, are there any other vehicles GM made that I can get all the parts needed to swap from an A4 to a T56? I think I am tired of dealing with this tranny.

The only T56 that will bolt directly to your 97 would be on out of a 93-97 LT1. And the two versions of the T56 used in the 93's both have much lower (higher numerical) 1st gear ratios, and a reduced torque capacity compared to the 94-97 T56's. The LS1 T56 has a longer input shaft, and uses a conventional "pusher" style clutch, compared to the LT1's unique "pull back" design. The Corvette T56's are a totally different configuration, mounted in the rear of the car, bolted directly to the differential housing.

You could buy a complete tranny, core and all. That's what I did. Got mine from Six Speeds Inc. You can also look into D&D Performance, I believe they sell a complete T56.
