t56..

when you take your shifter off, or install a new one, is that the gear box that is under the shifter base? There was some kind of liquid in there (purple, redish), but was only a couple of drops of it. Is the whole "gear box" suppose to be filled with that liquid? what liquid is that? thanks!

Re: t56..

Moving to "Drivetrain".

The T56 uses Dexron III ATF. It is a red colored lubricant. The lubricant is filled only to the bottom of the fill hole, which is in about the middle of the tranny. It is not supposed to be filled to the top.

This picture shows the location of the fill hole. The shifter sits right above the "reverse lockout" solenoid, on the far right in the picture.
