Re: Clutch question

For your mods a SPEC stage 2 would suit your needs just fine. I have heard good things about the stage 3 with ceramic pads, but that clutch is for more serious mods. I have had good experience with Mcleod (street twin) although it is VERY expensive and way overkill unless you plan for a future power adder or some extensive engine mods. You can't go wrong with SPEC. Just give them a call, tell them your plans and they will recommend the proper stage along with clutch material for your setup. FYI if you are plannng more mods, opt for the stage 3, then you can grow!

Yes, yes you can. Spec can get their stupid discs from throwing springs out. They offered me a new clutch for 1/2 price, but I might pass, even though my car will sit in the garage on jack stands untill I can afford the street twin. My friends just went out on thursday as well. Spec sucks. Dont buy spec.

Mine had under 15k miles, and my friends is only a year old.

Re: Clutch question

Totally agree.. Same exact issue with my second Spec clutch and Spec didn't offer to give me anything at half price.. First clutch they gave me was manufactured backwards, should have known at that point that their quality control was worthless..

Re: Clutch question

Just installed a new RAM clutch in mine the other day. I forget which exact one it is, but it is smooth as silk on takeoff and the shifts. Its the one with full metallic on one side and organic on the other.

Re: Clutch question

I just went through the hassle of buying a Spec II (when my engine was stock) and having it fall apart on me. Finally I just went with the best (McLeod ST) and after a little hickup (they made the flywheel bolts too long) the clutch is so sweet! Drives JUST like stock yet grips like a ****! I highly recommend.

Re: Clutch question

McLeod also sells a single disk which may be more appropriate for your setup. Just my $.02
