Smile project82lt1 first track times... cam sugg?

Well, the project ran the 1/4 for the first time and I am pretty happy with it.. I kept with my real world philosophy here are the stats...no burnout..

weight: with 3/4 full tank 3395 lbs no driver..
Tires: 275/40/17 KDWs 35psi..
Gears: 3.42 auburn posi, T56..
Suspension: tight, every bolt on..
Engine: 96 lt1 obd1 conv, meziere pump, 1.52.1 pro magnums, edelbrock headers, borla catback, 52mm throttle body, ZO6 maf, ATI superdamper..program by MadZ28..

My friends times.. reac: .815
60ft: 2.214
1/8th: 8.8 @82.80
1/4: 13.525 @ 103.99
He beat the new M3 in the other lane which ran a 13.639 @ 105.. I was happy with that..

My crappy first time ever run.. reac: .725
60ft: 2.627 (spun in 1st)
1/8th: 9.77 @ 80.35
1.4: 14.591 @ 100.96

Ok, I am happy thus far, since it is full trim with cold tires and driven daily...

I respect peoples opinion on this site so I have a few questions, I will never prep this car for the track since it has been built to be a car that turns and stops as well as it goes..

I have the opportunity to get a hotcam for 100$ but I am leaning more towards a 218/224 on 111, or the cm 221/227.. perhaps a 224/230.. this will be on slightly breathed on home-ported heads...

suggestions?? comments??

Weight was actually 3395 with no driver.
I was the driver and that was my first time really running the car with the T56.

VERY respectable times for what looks like a near-stock motor, and it's no light weight car either!

Cam? I just put in an LT4 Hotcam, which is by far your best bang for the buck. But, like most people I think now I probably shoulda gone bigger... Comp Cams 306 cam for the LT1. Keep in mind you will also need valve springs and pushrods. You can easily keep those 1.52 rockers though. The 306 has lots of lift and doesn't really NEEd the 1.6's, especially on stock heads.

Thanks for the comment, I set the car up to be ran everyday on the street..

mmm, interesting.. never thought of going with a 306.. but I would like to save the money on rockers...

I went with the 1.52s to go easy on the stock valvetrain.. I did get good pushrods when I changed them..

the car pulls well, the limiter is set at 5950 and I hit it from time to time cause the car is still pulling..

I have a spare set of heads in the garage right now.. I was going to get new springs and valves for those and do a little light porting..

Anyone else got any input??
