New Heavy Duty T56 Retro-Fit 6-Speed

I have 97 LT1 Z28 and I sold my 4L60E (A4) transmission, because I want to get a T56.. After my engine assembly is done at flywheel it will be ~530hp.. So I found this one..
Any suggestions will be great..

Maybe if you found a decent used one for cheap and had it rebuilt with the same innards as that one you might save a little. Who knows, but you'd probably be just fine with that one.

Re: New Heavy Duty T56 Retro-Fit 6-Speed

Uhh.. has anyone noticed this...

taken directly from the first link:
"NEW Viper T56 6-Speed. Use to retro-fit into GM cars
Strongest T56 available !!!!
550 ft-lbs of torque capaticity!
Shifter is 2" farther forward vs the LT1-LS1 trans
Mechanical Speedo Gear"

then it goes on to say:
"This NEW GM T56 6-Speed will fit your 82-02 Camaro, Z28, RS, SS, Firebird, Formula, WS6 Trans AM, Ram Air and other GM cars and trucks."

That is a stock T-56 torque rating if im not mistaken.. You would be best off picking one up used for a good deal and having it re-built with good carbon fiber synchros and new blocker rings for around $1k. You will probably end up saving money in the long run.

Also it having the shifter 2" further foward will probably create some installation issues and console fit issues, and without an aftermarket speedo like an Autometer, you will never know how fast you are going with that mechanical speedo pickup.

Also one more thing, it is torque that will kill a trans, not horsepower per say. You could make 800rwhp at 12000rpm and never break the trans since chances are, you will be making shiity torque down low.

Yes you are right.. I'm looking for a T56 which should handle my engine's torque ~520rwtq.. Lots of people suggest this market http://www.ddperformance.com/ I don't want to get used one, its like a disease to get a new transmission.. Anyway stock T56 can handle or should I get Viper's T56?
