Question Synthetic ATF?

I noticed the local auto parts store sells things like Mobile 1 synthetic ATF and B&M Trickshift fluid. I was wondering would this stuff be worth the switch? I have a new tranny pan on the way and of course I will have to change my fluid when I get it so I was looking to make an upgrade. Is synthetic ATF worth the extra money?

Thanks

Re: Synthetic ATF?

From what I have read its not good for the tranny to switch to Synthetic. I thought about doing it too. Sometimes changing the tranny fluid on higher mileage transmissions can be fatal for it. I'd stay stick with regular fluid from what I understand.

Re: Synthetic ATF?

I have tried B&M Trickshift, Redline, and Mobile 1 in mine. They all work well.

Re: Synthetic ATF?

At around 68k. Just changed it last week and the stuff looks brand new at 80k. You should be fine unless you are currently having tranny problems now.
I did notice that you said your tranny pan is on the way so that must mean you have an A4. Not sure how much fluid goes in an A4 but I know it's alot more than 4qts. And I'm pretty sure it's not good to mix synthetic with regular Dexron Mercon III. It's up to how much $ you want to spend.

See that is the problem, even if pull the pan their still will be fluid left in the converter and I really don't feel like pulling the converter just for some tranny fluid.

Get a new stall

Not sure how differently M6's react to syn. compared to A4's.

True, I could pick up a trailblazier converter for cheap.
