Synchro questions

I think it's the synchros that's messed up in my tranny because shifting from 1 to 2 feels a little rough especially when pushing it hard at a higher speed. How long can i go if i think this is the problem? What else could i damage by driving it? Has anyone ever gotten these replaced, and if so, how much did it cost you?

Re: Synchro questions

my 5th / reverse gear synchros had to be replaced. the gears were worn due to that. whole job costed about $3,000 CND. I would assume the only thing that can get damaged are the gears, if they grind during shifting, or snap right out.

Re: Synchro questions

ok i took it out a little last night and I don't think it's the tranny...If I hold it in gear with the clutch fully engaged, rev it p to about 5000rpms, I get this low tone humming/groaning with a slight vibration. If the clutch is fully engaged, the tranny isn't moving right? so it must be my clutch...what do you think?
