Symptoms of a bad pilot bearing?

What are the general symptoms of a bad pilot bearing in tranny? How about input/output bearings? Thanks guys!

Re: Symptoms of a bad pilot bearing?

Bad pilot bearing- Grinding noise, clutch in, tranny in gear.
Bad input bearing- Noise that fluctuates with engine speed, clutch engaged & in gear.
Bad output bearing- Noise that fluctuates with vehicle speed, best heard with tranny in neutral.

If your pilot bearing gets bad enough it could get stuck to the input shaft and make it so you can't get out of gear. If you get worried about it, try to spend as little time as possible with the tranny in gear and the clutch pedal pushed in. This lets the input shaft rotate with the engine as much as possible, so there's almost no wear.
