T56 Swap Question

I'm sure I have never been the only one, but I am swapping a T56 for my 700R4 in my 86 Camaro. I have all the information and have done many searches in this forum. I still however can't seem to get my hands on an SGI box.

Many members in previous threads have recomended this JTR Modifications to drive a spedometer cable kit. Here is the link http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Pages/Par...pp6-3_6-4.html

But there is just 1 twist. I am also putting in a complete interior including gauge cluster out of a 2000 LS1 Camaro. I am not sure if this will affect the JTR mod Kit, but I really do not want to go that way. I would like to just get my hands on the SGI box to make things easy and not have to mess with the tranny itself.

I know that Autometer makes a "Spedometer Sender" box, but it is only compatable with Autometer gauges.

Can anyone help me on what to do about this??

Nick

Re: T56 Swap Question

3rd gen computer + 4th gen tranny + 4th gen cluster = interesting problem. Normally the signal is picked up by the tranny and sent to the computer, then the computer sends the signal to the speedo. The problem is that those signals probably aren't the same, as in the speed signal probably fluctuates while the gauge signal is constant. If you have a friend that's good with electronics he might be able to help you out, it would involve some advanced stuff I'm not familiar with. Basically, he would have to convert the signal into the proper one for use with the speedo. Or if no one else knows on here, you might want to e-mail someplace like carcraft and see if this has been done before.

Re: T56 Swap Question

Well, Although it is a problem, it is nobody's fault but my own.

I haven't thought of getting in touch with carcraft. Hopefully they will be able to help me out.

I do have 1 lead that Summit gave me, but the place is closed until the monday after thanksgiving. Hopefully I can find something to work.

Thanks for the help so far.
