Strongest drivetrain on a budget?
A stock steel shaft is way stronger than a stock aluminum shaft and you already have it, so it's "free". You are stock with the rearend. I guess one of those fancy covers may be of some help, but with hard launches on sticky tires it will not last in an M6 car. It may do ok with an automatic though.

I'm running an Inland Empire 3" al shaft with a Eaton posi put in last summer with 3.73 Presision Gears. I think I took some teeth off the ring gear pulling out of a gas station a couple weeks ago. I have a Trans Go shift kit in the A4 that chirps the tires over 1/3 throttle. The new Nitto drag radials took their toll and something snapped. Oops. Oh, yeah, I have the stud girdle rear cover, also. Saving for a 12-bolt or 9".
