Street Twin throwout bearing

I had a used street twin installed back in April and every thing was great, no noises or problems at all.

About a month ago I ran into a problem that I thought was my clutch not fully disengaging because with the wheels in the air car in first and clutch pedal pushed in the tires were spinning. So I tried adjusting the master cylinder until the tires weren't spinning and went for a drive, after about 8 miles there was this terrible rattling noise. I then removed the tranny and had it rebuilt (upgraded to viper output shaft), sent the clutch back to McLeod (they said it was fine), and had the slip yoke on the driveshaft replaced because I went to the viper shaft and because the splines were twisted.

When I got the clutch back I put it in and started the car and the rattling noise was gone. I just finished installing the tranny and started it up and where I had the master cylinder adjusted to first the rattling was there only when I pushed the clutch pedal all the way to the floor, but if I let out a little the noise stopped. I then tried adjusting the master cylinder so that I could push the pedal all the way to the floor and not have the noise, but I still have the noise.

Is it harmful at all for the throwout bearing to rattle like this or is it just annoying? Is there anything I can do to eliminate the noise?

TIA

It is possible that you are over- traveling the fork. If the fork travels too far it can hit on the Street Twin PP studs. This happened to me after I had my ST rebuilt. It changed the geometry a little bit and I had problems. My soulution was to shave about 1/16" off of the clutch fork pivot. This returned to fork back to about its original location (angle) and solved the problem. I'm surprised that you would have this problem with a new clutch. Did you recently have the flywheel resurfaced?

IMO, Just cutting back on fork travel by adjusting the MC is probably not a good solution, The ST needs all of the TOB travel it can get to free up the disks.
