Street Twin Problem...LT1 Clutch fork pivot?
Street Twin Problem...LT1 Clutch fork pivot?
Does happen to know the over all length of the "pivot"? Im trying to figure out how much I have shaved off of mine.
I am having trouble getting the cluch fork onto or off of the throw out bearing.
I am also having to space my slave cylinder back from the transmission 3/8" otherwise when I tighten down the slave it disengauges the clutch!
I am running a street twin clutch, any suggestions?

Re: Street Twin Problem...LT1 Clutch fork pivot?
I did not shave my pivot, nor did I see that in the instructions, and my engagement is OK, with the pedal set about as high as the brake. Just in case, you didn't forget the spacer, did you?
Re: Street Twin Problem...LT1 Clutch fork pivot?
ive got the spacer in there. I shaved the pivot point a few years ago with a different clutch setup. Ive since been running the street twin which now needs a rebuild and im trying to sort out the issue.
Im now looking at going to an automatic, but want to sort out this issue before I sell my m6 stuff. I may just order a new t-stud and clutch fork and not worry about it.

Re: Street Twin Problem...LT1 Clutch fork pivot?
The early Street Twins required shaving the clutch fork pivot and sleeving the slave cylinder. But once they came out with the adjustable master cylinder, they dropped those requirements, if I recall correctly.

Mine was a early version of the street twin that called for shaving the pivot and sleeving the slave cylinder. Years later I replaced the slave unit with an adjustable on; works fine with the shaved pivot.

Adjustable masters and sleeving slaves don't cure the real problem; not enough fork travel on the slave end to fully release the Street Twin the recommended .500" before the yolk hits the pressure plate bolts.
I know, and have a new ring gear (2010 vintage) with a tooth broke out to prove it.

I might have the pivot length written down somewhere, I'll look.
I'd say you might have to find a new one if it's so short you have trouble getting the fork in place. If it's too short the throwout bearing will hit the front of the transmission before full release.
