speedometer off??? 4:10 gears

speedometer off??? 4:10 gears

I have a 1993 trans am that i recently bought. the guy that i got it from said it had 4:10 gears in the rear end. My speedometer reads 70 when im doing 55 and 90 when im doing 70mph. Anyways i was wondering if any of yall know how i can fix it.

The 93 speedometer is different than all other years of the LT1. There is a gear in the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) that can be changed. The VSS is on the tailshaft housing of the tranny, driver's side.

Minor point.... 4.10:1 gears or 4.10, not 4:10

You have to calculate which DRIVEN gear you need for the VSS, based on which DRIVE gear installed on the tranny output shaft:

This outfit should have the DRIVEN gear and if necessary the DRIVE gear.
