shift kit stopped working???

i have a 97 A4 z28 and i drove it to VA beach yesterday. when i left home it was shifting hard like normal..i have a transgo shift kit in a rebuilt trans with kevlar bands and all new stuff sitting behind a dacco 2400-2800 non lock up stall. this was done about 15k miles ago. on the way home its like the shift kit was never installed. it shifted just like stock. i noticed later that the rpms were slightly higher at 55 than normal. usually i turn ~1700 at 55 and now i was turnign over 2. if anyone has any idea what might be wrong please let me know. thanks!

Well, the TG kit are known for burning transmissions up. Who rebuilt your transmission? I didn't think anybody who knows what they're doing used Kevlar anymore. the material is too hard, and prone to burning up prematurely.

Sounds like the electronics should be checked out here. Any codes? If the Trans-Go Performance Shift was installed correctly, it will not do any harm here, except if he installed 2 or 3 spacers in the 2nd gear accumulator. This will cause the 1-2 part throttle shifts to be very firm, which is hard on the gear train. Check the fluid level & condition of the fluid? If low, add fluid... if burnt... you might have a big problem. I agree with Frank, stay away from Kevlar, it was a material that did not work well in these units. Kevlar will take a lot of heat, but it slips too much before coming on, and this produces heat, which will warp the reverse/input drum. The 2nd & 4th gear shift (the 2-4 band), wraps around this drum), Borg Warner Hi-Energy is one of the best materials to use on the 2-4 band & 3-4 clutches.

Pat's transmission repair rebuilt it. hes a local guy.. he talked like he really knew what he was doing when he did it. ..guess not... ill check the condition of the fluid and get back to ya on that. and Yes there is a code that has to do with the transmission, but i dont know what it means. i guess ill have to take it to a dealer and have them run it and see.
