Running problem after 6-speed swap...

Hey guys,

Just got done doing a 6-speed swap in my 1997 camaro z28. Everything is back together and working fine.

My only problem is that the car wants to stall when pushing the clutch in and slowing down. I always have to put the car in nuetral and hit the gas while slowing down in order to keep it from stalling out. But other than that - it idles fine, accelerates fine, cruises fine, and runs fine.

Does anyone have any idea what this issue could be? I did not have my computer re-flashed to a t56 program yet - and I don't know if that would be possibly cauing this or not?? Would that have any effect on the symptoms I desribed - or does that only effect the speedometer, etc?

Only other thing I changed was added a 58MM throttle body and ported intake.

Thanx in advance for the responces....

IMO you need to have your PCM tuned by someone like Madwolf or PCMforless. Even having the PCM re-flashed would be a good start.

The tune should not be that far off - plus it runs fine under all other conditions exept for pushing in the clutch and slowing down.

I am definitely going to update my tune, plus do the re-flash to the M6 program. I just don't know whether or not this is a tuning issue and would like to get it straightened out

Yes, it is ABSOLUTELY the computer!! Mine was the exact same after the swap, although it never stalled (but it would idle down to ~300-400 RPM for a few moments! )

The reason is that with an automatic, you can never completely disconnect the tranny from the motor (like you can with a clutch), so while you're rolling to a stop, the driveline turning is enough to keep the engine at/above idle, even if you've completely let off the gas. When you push in the clutch, however, suddenly there is NOTHING to support the engine, other than itself, and the computer doesn't know to "catch it before it falls" so to speak.

Once I had mine re-flashed at the dealer to an M6 program, it ran perfectly fine ... you can push the clutch in anywhere, any time, and the revs only fall to around ~1000 RPM, and it idles just below that .

Capn Pete - thanks a lot for the help!!

I figured it might be something having to do with the computer, since everything else was running fine except for during those moments. It seems logical that the A4 computer would be confused at that time.

Guess I better go and get that M6 re-flash done....
