Rising Stick
Rising Stick
Lately my car just hasnt felt the same, its got around 70K miles on it. Its felt super grindy lately, I mean I know from the factory camaros were a little *course* but its felt a little more grindy than usual. I get a grinding feeling now a little from the stick but a lot from the gas pedal and the clutch. It doesn't seem right. Also when I punch it the stick seems to rise a bit. Not all the time, but more and more now. Which I Dont think is good at all. So if anyone knows what my problem might be, please let me know. Thanx
Re: Rising Stick
The torque arm is mounted to the end of the tranny tailshaft. When you hit the throttle, the normal torque reaction lifts up on the rear end of the tranny. If the shifter lever is "rising" more than it used to, it could be the sign of a worn or broken tranny mount. A broken mount might also impart more "vibration" to anything that bolts to the body... e.g - the pedals, etc. While you're under there checking the tranny mount, look at the torque arm bushing for damage or excessive wear.
Re: Rising Stick
This might be a dumb question, but better asked than to not ask at all, my first Z, where exactly are the tranny mounts, and the torque arm, and if they are broken or worn...would it be pretty easy to tell?
Re: Rising Stick
crawl under your car and you will see a somewhat large part, that is holding up your transmission. Its right on the bottom of the car, you cant miss it
Its a matter of 3 bolts to remove it. (and of course a something to substitute holding the trans up)
edit: here's a pic of the my car's tranny mount: http://memimage.cardomain.com/member...0_173_full.jpg
