resting hand on shift **** bad?

Recently heard resting your hand on the shift **** on a manual transmission car causes damage such as wearing out your synchros faster . Any truth behind this?

The same as getting in your car wears the seats out.

If you're not moving it out of gear or hamfisting further "into" gear, you're hurting nothing.

Re: resting hand on shift **** bad?

I've got 156,000 miles on my original M6 with zero synchro issues and I rest my hand on the shifter regularly.
