Recommend a good tranny for my build?

I sold my LT1. Looking at building up an LS3/LSA/LS7/LS8 in the next year or whenever they become available as crate motors. Haven't decided yet but it will be in the 550-600 hp neighbourhood.

Looking for a tranny capable of handling the abuse and still be streetable and return decent mpg.

I currently have a built 700R4.

Would a new 6L80/6L50 fit? How strong are these trannies?

If you're also swapping in the LS1 computer/wiring, I'd suggest one of our "Pro Race" 4L60E's. You'd have no problem with one of OURS in that HP range.

I would be keeping my 93 PCM to control the guages and piggy back a standalone computer to handle the new motor and tranny I guess.

I've toasted my 4L60E four times with a few other reputable companies(AMMCO & PATC Raptor Trannies) working on my tranny. After the 4th time I sent it to Frank for the Pro Race rebuild and I haven't had a problem with it yet. Frank will be the only one touching my tranny for sure. I have a refresh coming due this fall after I shoot the silly gas to it too Frank.

So one big vote for Frank here.

You would save alot of money by going with one of Frank's 4L60E builds, dumping the 93 PCM idea and piggy back computer idea... and sticking with the LSx platform PCM alltogether and one of the custom speartech harnesses I linked to you prior

MUCH easier to do.

Frank's 4L60E's rock.
