There it was sitting right out in the open. Man I feel like an idiot. Glad it got taken out and tore apart though. One of the Teflon seals on the pump were cut pretty bad, it wouldn't have lasted. That would be my fault also........

Re: rebuilt Trans no forward

Don't let it bother you too much. I've seen alot worse things happen. Back around 18 years ago, the shop manager at the sjop I was working at forgot the Intermediate clutches in a TH350...LOL. Anybody that's been doing this for a long time has made mistakes. If they tell you they haven't, they're lying.
I used to teach transmission building classes, so I've seen many rookie mistakes. You're not the first to forget a front sun gear, although most others seen it laying on the bench after the trans was done and realized it. To complicate that even more, GM changed the design of the input sprag on the later 4L60Es so that the sun gear attatches to it. It all goes in as an assembly, so you don't put the sun gear in the front planetary like you did on previous units..
The cut ring is another common mistake. If you install new teflon rings, it's best to have a ring sizer which reshapes the rings, so the reverse housing goes on easier. Most DIYers don't have these tools because they're expensive, and they may only get used once.
