reassembling 12 bolt - silicone or not?

when putting the cover back on, do you use silicone or not? my service manual doesn't say but sometimes they just asume you already know.

For the rear cover... Normally I use RTV to put the gasket to the Cover, but none between the gasket and the housing... that way when I go back into the housing I don't need a new gasket.... little trick...

No. I never use a gasket sealer on a rear end cover. Just make sure both the cover and the housing are spotless and torque the bolts to the proper specs.
