rearend/tranny questions

alright so im building my engine first... probably not the best choice... but by the time im done im going to have somewhere between 400-500hp on the engine (i hope) and im hoping that the stock trany and rear end will hold on long enough for me to get them built... i understand that i wont be able to push it to much with that kinda hp going into a 3000 stalled tranny and stock rearend... i just want to know if the tranny/rear are going to hold it long enough for me to get the money for trany rearend upgrades if im nice to it as in not to many burnouts no racing at all...

You don't have to use all the horsepower you got just to drive the car. If you drive normally, it won't be any worse off than it was before. Going down the interstate uses only a few horsepower. Your rear end, if it's healthy will do OK with an A4 in front of it with a soft converter, but your A4 may be short lived if you are hard on it and it's probably not new anyway, is it?. One thing I did to make my tranny last is to add a tranny cooler and a remote filter and deep pan with fins. I did build up the rear end a bit with a rear cover with support and a solid spacer instead of a crush sleeve. I got the tranny done later.

It's not nearly as bad with an A4 as with a M6. My rear end lasted quite a while on my A4 car then I sold it to a guy with a M6 and he fragged it after 2 years.
