Rearend question

How much fabricating will this take to make fit in a 94z a4?

Moser 30-spline axles, 4.10 gear, It has a Track Lock, not a spool or posi-trac. It's a unit that goes inside the factory 3rd member to make it lock solid. Housing measures 48-1/4" outside to outside on housing flange. No brakes included.

Thats all I know about it; chevy 12 bolt.

Re: Rearend question

It has to be on a server on the internet, and you need to post the internet address, not the storage location on your hard drive.

Re: Rearend question

This will need the shocks, spring and panhard rod brackets from a 4th gen rear welded to it, and thats the easy stuff. It also needs a torque arm mounting and that could be tricky to do, also 48" seems a bit too small.

Re: Rearend question

Sounds a bit too short. Strange shows the outside-to-outside housing dimension as 56-1/4" for the 3rd Gen and 59-1/4" for the 4th Gen.

yea you'd need to tub the fenders and put some wheels on with spacers and backspacing appropriate to get the tires back out and.... even then.... i dk look into it and see what you can do for new axles and a new housing for it so you dont have to compromise safety with spacers and too tight of wheelspacing in the rear

Re: Rearend question

thanks,

Any ideas on how to get an inexpensie 12 bolt???? I got a guy that can do all the fabricating. Hoping to use factory shocks, springs, and sway bar. Basically, all I want to do is cut 1.7-1.8 60's with 400rwhp. Dont want to spend $2500 on rearend. hoping to get out around 1200 max; any ideas or im i just wishing for the impossible?

Re: Rearend question

Guys around here having LT1 and mostly LS1 cars cut that time all day long and even less on 10-bolt rear with A4 cars. My friend made 9 passes in one tnt day with his LS1 doing 1.6-1.7 short times and the rear is holding out fine.

Re: Rearend question

You would spend more trying to make that rear fit than it would cost to buy a bolt in 12 bolt. Just keep you eyes open, deals pop up all the time. I saw one go real cheap on Ebay last week.

For now, At your mod level. I wouldn't wory about the rear unless its already broken. An A4 isn't nearly as hard on a rear as an M6. Maybe put some studs in it and hope for the best.

Re: Rearend question

Still have the stock 10-bolt with the zexel-torson limited slip, haven't tested it yet as the motor is being freshened up. This rear is currently on my friends cam and bolt ons 99 Z28 who is cutting 1.6-1.7 60'.

Re: Rearend question

Thats crazy!! I'm thinking of putting the 555's on my z but I dont want to break the rear. I had the 450's on there with 355 rwhp cutting 1.9's and it had no problems. Now i got hotcam with rr, and im scared to run it with the 100 shot. But Im considering. Sorry to hijack thread.
