Rear fluid

What kind of fluid is needed for the rear? Should i go synthetic?? Anything else i'm gonna need besides: gasket, limited slip additive, and fluid?? Need to know ASAP!!! Thanks a bunch!!!

That's pretty much it. If you go full synthetic you won't need the additive.... I went full syn. and don't have any noises coming from the rear. When i got the car it had regular gear oil in it and it whined constantly. HTHs

What weight synthetic fluid??

Hmmm.... i can't recall the exact weight, 80W-90(?) I think. Anyway, I just used the same weight as OEM in synthetic form.

If you have clutch type posi DO NOT use synthetic. Eaton, for example, specifically states that only mineral based lubricants should be used.

I use regular old dyno juice in mine.

Yeah I use regular GM non-synthetic 80W-90 and a bottle of additive in mine.

I used GM oil, additive, and gasket this last time (after gear swap 200 mile change). Don't forget to pick up the funky tube thing at Autozone for getting the fluid in there. It's like $3 - well worth it..
