transmission fluid

transmission fluid

i am wondering what type of transmission fluid can i use for my 94 camaro v8 6 speed. Also where can i find the dip stick or check the fluid level?

Confusing.... your signature says you have a 4L60E, but your post indicates you have a 6-speed ? ? ?

well that is what it said on the tranmission when i did my signature? maybe im wrong...

Does the car have a clutch? Do you have to shift the gears manually by pushing in the clutch pedal while moving the gearshift lever?

Interesting thing is both the 4L60E 4-speed automatic, and the T56 6-speed manual use Dexron-III. Automatic has a dipstick, manual does not.

ah so where do i check to see the fluid level on a manual?

You take out the fill plug on the driver side of the trans, and stick your finger in, making sure the fluid is level with the bottom of the hole.

On your 94, it will say "Dexron-II".... but that was superseded by Dexron-III. The trans in the photo is from a 97.

what tool do i need to fill that hole i dont think a regular one would work? i also noticed that my trans says dexron III on it does that mean its a earlier transmission
