Which rear end- s60, 9in, 12bolt?
How noisy is the s60 gonna be? My gears already have a slight whine now and I want that rear end to be quiet if it costs over $2k.
And by clutch dumping- are you guys letting out quickly on the pedal or sidestepping it?

I know my Strange 12-Bolt has some whine to it; it always did since I got it, but the gears are setup perfect.
As for the clutch dumps... most often it's feathered out, cuz if you just side-step it you're most likely going up in smoke, even with sticky tires.
My clutch dumps were exactly that... side-step the clutch. The 28x11.5-15 QTP's stuck like glue (3.73 gears). When Steve Spohn sets up your suspension, it hooks.
I've never noticed any unusual whine with the Strange. It came with the 3.73's installed and had a slight noise with a "neutral" loading... not accelerating, not decel, just "floating". Later I had the US/Strange Pro-Street 4.11's installed, with no unusual noise. But the exhaust is dumped under the floor, there are rod ends everywhere in the suspension, and the rattle of the solid roller cam tends to mask noise in general (not to mention a senior citzen's failing hearing
), so maybe its noiser than I think.

After calling around and asking ALOT of questions, I got the s60 on order w/ LPW cover and 4.10's, standard yolk. Got the MIG welded shaft and standard trans yolk. At first I wanted the chrome-moly yolk and TIG shaft. I was told numerous times, confidently, that I won't break it. Also, it will make some noise. I can't believe this rear end costs me what half the car costs me but my worries about breaking the rear will be over I hope. Can't wait to get it in the car!
the s60 seems to be the most popular option. you will be happy with it, just dont expect it to be super quiet, none of the aftermarket rears are. i probably would have gone this rout but a friend of mine sold me a 12 bolt for $800 so thats what i got.
I have the S60 and love it, I have an m6 and don't worry at all about breaking anything. It came with 3.73's (I had an SS with a4 when I originally got it) and they make some noise but nothing I can't live with. I'm thinking of going with 4.30s now that I have a 6 speed.
