Re-using Pressure plate...

So I inquired to TRE Performance about getting a SPEC 2 kit.

My stage 3 only has about 40k on it, but it's started to slip. The clutch disc is a 6 puck and not meant to last for a really long time, I knew this going in, as the guys at SPEC put it this way... "We have one here with 10k and about 100 launches at the track."

But after inquiring, the guy at TRE told me I might not need to get the entire kit, maybe just the disk.

Opinions? I would assume he knows more about this than me, but I thought I'd inquire with you guys first. It's not a problem for me to just buy the entire kit, but if it isn't necessary, I'll use that extra cash I'll save and get a new flywheel.

We have a forum for topics like this. "Engine" tech is only for engine topics. I'll move it to "Drivetrain" for you.

As long as the surface is true on the flywheel and pressure plate you can just replace the disc.

Anyway to tell if it's bad or not?

Look for any heavy hot spots on it. Light hot spots can be machined over, but any heavy heat damage or warping is unrepairable. The machinist who resurfaces it should be able to tell you what condition it's in.

If you resurface the pressure plate you will decrease the clamp load unless they machine the mounting points the same amount. With that said there is a reason everyone replaces the pressureplate when they do a clutch install.
