Question About 4l60E Slippage

Please See Sig For Car Detail.

I had a Fuddle 3800 converter with a 2.3 str installed about 2 months ago. Everything has been fine and not sure my current problem is related.

I was driving on the freeway coming home tonight and was in OD and put the gas to the floor. The car was slipping big time. I never noticed that before. The car seems fine out of the hole and from the a second gear hard launch. I will have to try it from a 3rd gear launch later tonight and see what happens. I did notice that after I did the OD routine a few times on the freeway then came to a stop I could smell some burning. I am not sure it was my car since when I stopped the car and got out about 5 mins later I didn't smell anything.

So, any idea on what this could be? Any way to easily check this type of thing out?

The car only has 22,000 miles on it so it is not a high miles. Also, the car has not been to beat up.

Is it odd for a car to only slip from an OD launch?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Bill

The input sprag is probably starting to let go.

Is this an easy thing to look at with the pan off? If so, how expensive is it to replace?

I took the car out again tonight and it was okay when I was at about 55MPH and hit it in OD. I was doing 70-75 on my way home when I hit it and noticed it slipping badly.

Can this be in the program? Or, can this be a converter issue? I would imagine the converter would show problems in all gears not just hitting it in OD on the freeway. It still hits hard as hell down in first and second gear.

Thanks,

Bill

This sounds pretty serious. I don't really think there's an "easy fix" for it. If you drop the pan, look for metal debris, or a black sediment in the bottom of the pan.

oh damn i have the same problem. i doesnt even want to shift to 1st gear anymore. i have to shift it manually so it wont stay in 3rd gear. i just given it a oil change about a month ago and when i need to drop the pan to fix the shifter cause some nut came loose on it and it wouldnt go into park and would only have reverse. i got that fixed and when i dumped the oil it was black on the bottom of the oil pan. looks like its time for a new tranny
