Okay after reading all this I still have a few questions. If you do run the McLeod with Nittos at what HP do you have to worry about dropping your ds or rear end? I was running a centerforce DF and it only slipped once with the Nittos. It was usually just a slight chirp and down the road. I am right around 350 hp but not looking forward to breaking the ds or rear end. I have been tossing around between the SPEC stage 3/4 or McLeod but most have said the McLeod is overkill. Now I have to worry that either will leave me with a broken ds or rear end. Any advice would be great.

Thanks

The rear can be fraged with the stock clutch and sticky tires, a performance clutch grabs faster/harder so it would be easier to throw out the rear. Either way if you are going to be launching on sticky tires for an extended period of time you prolly want to save for a 12 bolt or 9"ford.

i have stage III, im stock(cept for clutch) and it snapped my dirver side axle the first time i launch at the track... rolled about 5 feet....

on the street it was fun, would just spin, but track was much stickier(+i did a nice burnout toheat the nittos up)

cory

anything can break it, just some ppl are lucky..

Well then it wasn't a spec3 then. Spec 3 is no where close to stock. Believe me. It pulls so freakin hard. It's great. Spec doesn't even compare to centerforce either.

RED91TSIAWD, can you give a little more detail about the SPEC-4. From what I see in you sig you are stock and running a SPEC-4. From what I have heard this clutch is setup for the track and not the street. SPEC even states this when advertising this clutch that it is for track cars not street. I am asking because I HAVE to buy a clutch in the next week so I can get it installed and on the road since the weather has warmed up. I was looking at the Mcleod street twin, but am a little scheptical, not so much about the price (if it is all it is cracked up to be it is worth every penny), but what it might due to my rear since it is still the original 10-bolt. So this has led me to the SPEC clutches. The SPEC-4 worries me that it might be a lot like the street twin and be too much for my car and break my rear although it looks a lot stronger than the SPEC-3. The SPEC-3 looks like the perfect clutch for what I need except that the center sprung hub gives it a weak point that the other 2 clutches do not have. This is the biggest complaint about the SPEC-3 that the springs tend to break rather easily. What I am looking to find out is does the clutch pedal feel like stock still on the SPEC-4, most people claim the SPEC-3 feels stock, but grips alot harder. Being stock how does the clutch grip feel ---- too much or just right????? Any info would help. Thanks

yeah i drove his car but i didnt bang gears hard or anything, i just wanted to see how the pedal felt compared to my stage2 and i must say it feels the exact same if not a lil bit "easier"
i like the idea of the stage 4 being that its an unsprung clutch disk, something that the stage 3's have had some problems with (some have some havent) ie: destroying the clutch disk springs

its a nice grippy clutch with excellent pedal feel

and as said before the stock rear can be broken with the stock clutch....its not the clutch that breaks the 10bolt its the traction

IMO i would buy the stage4 SPEC with carbon disk if not the new multi material disk thats out now

also heard lots of good things about the street twin but the chunk of change on the initial purchase can be a bit much for most

Pedal feels going to be at least relatively close to stock with most hyd clutch setups, unless you mess with the actual hydraulic parts.

I know the McLeod comes with a new master cylinder and it is recommened to upgrade the slave. Would it be best to do the same with the Spec stage 4? Does the McLeod have a spring hub or is it like the stage 4?
