Need a New Clutch, What to go with?
Need a New Clutch, What to go with?
Well went to light em up tonight, slamemd into second and the enging flew to almost redline, and the car wasn't spinnin any tire, came to a stop and the car smelled like i burned the f#$k out of the clutch
, now the pedal is way high and if i get on it, it slips really bad, nay recomendations on better replacements, and how hard is it to change by yourself, i have good knowledge on other things with the car, but the clutch is somewere i havent yet been(only pulled auto's) so can anyone say what they think about better performance clutch's? the car will soon have a procharger or turbo set up, probably only lookling for about 500 hp max at the wheels, looking for a clutch in the middle of streetable and raceable. thanks a lot, this will help a lot.

street twin do it once do it right period. And when you wear it out its cost $325 to rebuild it shipped there and back! so 2 clutches = 1 street twin you will have to spend the money sooner or later and ALL I repeat ALL the other clutches have had people bitchen about them not this clutch do a search and you will see!
(I bitched about the install a lil but what the hell i was on my back in the garage lol) but not the performance!

The best clutch (by far) for an LT1 is the Street Twin. If you have the money, it's the way to go. If you have ever done a clutch install, it shouldn't be a problem. If you have not, it's best to get someone who has to help you.

the spec stage III usally runs around 500, i think there is a gp going on now for around 470, i bought mine for 480 but it was not from a paing vendor, pm me if u wanna know where. BTW i have about 100 miles on mine and it dosen't chatter too bad even in the break in period, 400 miles to go
Yeaup Stage 3 here. I'm happy with mine. Installation can be a pita if you've never done it before so I'd go with his reccomendation and get help from someone who's done it before. Makes it alot easier when you know the tricks...
Street twin!!
Just ordered mine $812 shipped to my door through Tbyrne. Do it once, just have to bite the bullet on the price. When you think about what all it comes with its really not that bad of a price; especially with the sale going on

SPEC stage III clutch/flywheel+nittos(245/50/16)+3500rpm launch+NICE track prep = snapped rear axle(driver side)
pics in sig, i know i snapepd an axle, but the clutch is GREAT! highly recommend it... just be carefull about launching with a NICE track prep... its bites ALOT harder than stock...

I'd say go with the spec stage III, its streetable, and will handle plenty of power, not to expensive either.

The street twin is best and the last cultch i'll ever have to by for my car. After buying 2 specs, you would have had enough for a street twin. It will last alot longer than any single disk ever would and like ramir96 said, it's only $325 to get it rebiult. So after 2 years of beating on it , you sent it back to mcleod and get a "new clutch" for only $325 and just repeat that process every 2 years. Or you can just go the band wagon route and by a clutch every 6 months to a year at the price of $400 to $500, not including having to get you flywheel resurfaced ( untill one day you cant resurface it and you have to buy a new one for $200). Beware though, street twin makes the stock 10 bolt go boom. Even on the street with normal tires. You will need to have a good 9" or 12 bolt plus a good driveshaft (denny's, spohn, etc. No aluminum) with a billet tranny yoke (the splines of the stock tranny yoke will get twisted). But you will need that stuff anyway since your future plans are to have 500 RWHP. No single disk will handle that kind of abuse for very long.

Stage 3 spec all the way
