You'd have to change out the tranny because of the different bellhousing needed to bolt up to the LS1.
An LS1 in to the LT1 body style is possible but a pain. I recall a guy posting in the V6 Forum last year when he did the swap.

ill give the generic answer when i say that for the most part, motor swaps into these cars aren't cost effective unless you get an absolute steal on a used motor and stuff...
you'd have to change (among other things)
-engine
-trans
-rear (not whole rear but do u really want a non-posi LS1?)
-brakes (again do u want 340+ hp and rear drums)
-PCM
-assorted wiring
-assorted suspension (im guessing you'de probably need at least V8 springs/shocks up front to compensate for the heavier motor.)
-hood (LS1 doesn't fit under the stock 93-97 hood i believe)
-exhaust (obviously)
-radiator (probably, im not sure)
this is just the stuff i think is important to change. there are other differences between the 6 and 8 cyl. cars.
-steering ratio
-gauge cluster
-etc.
If you have the money to do an LS1 swap, add it to the sale price of your car and go buy a factory LS1 car....MUCH easier.
