Is my transmission going?

I have a 97 z28 with an a4. I am noticing that sometimes when im accelerating hard but not full wot, it shifts really jerky i think from 2nd to 3rd. It doesnt bother me much but freaks my passangers. It seems like its slipping and then catches really hard and jerks. I was wondering if its going and waht i can do to prevent it. It seems to work normal regular driving and wot. I changed my transmission fluid and filter about 1000 miles ago with dexron iii. My cooling system is working working too.

Is there anything i can do to fix this and is it an indicator or failure in the future?

BTW, how exactly do i check my trans fluid level. I took the pan off cleaned it out and i removed the line to the radiator i believe. I added 6 or 7 quarts and it seemed to work fine. When i put the dipstick in i t does have the redish liquid on the tip but i dont know how far up it is supposed to go. I had that reading at 6 and added another quart just to be safe.

Re: Is my transmission going?

Let's make sure the fluid level is correct first. Your dipstick should have a "crosshatch" area on it. The fluid level should be in the middle-top of this crosshatch area. The car needs to be on level ground, and the engine running.
