vig3200 stall and obd1 problems??

I have been putting alot of thought into the vig 3200 stall and potential obd1 problems. Do you think I should send it back and get a 2800 in its place.........I have the one free stall change. This way I could avoid the obd1 stall problem or what are your thoughts on this. Thanks.

www.pcmforless.com was able to correct my shift issues with no problems.. I'd do that. Vig3200 is the way to go with these cars. JMO

Good Luck

Re: vig3200 stall and obd1 problems??

I see you have a tune from Madz28. I'm sure Ion could fix this problem very fast. (I have PCMforless- Bryan fixed my 3500 tune in a few minutes) I doubt you would regret the 3200. I think you should save your free re-stall for an upgrade when your car makes it to that point. I would not want to waste it on a downsize.

Re: vig3200 stall and obd1 problems??

pcmforless.com can fix this in the tuning, talk to Ion and see if he has it sorted out yet. If not then maybe you do want to use pcmforless.com, when looking at the restall don't just consider the downtime consider the cost of shipping the TC back and forth. Seems to me the better solution is to keep the stall you have which should work well and deal with this through the tune.

Re: vig3200 stall and obd1 problems??

Thanks for all the input guys..........but here is the thing the converter is still NIB and has yet to be installed, I know that ion has a fix for it but wasnt sure if that is 100% or not. I am going with a hotcam/p/p heads and have no plans to go larger in the future. So I was wondering if it is worth it to try and avoid the stall problem if I can by getting the stall lowered to 2800. Thanks again and any more info would be great.
Thanks.

Just stick it in there. In most people's cases you don't experience the problem until you cut a really hard 60'. Even then madwolf or PCMforless should be able to tune it out. But there are a few rare cases where people's cars won't run right in daily driver because of the problem, but they're less common.

Re: vig3200 stall and obd1 problems??

FWIW, it had the problem with the 2800 stall also. I'm currently running a 3200 vig and with the computer fix, I'm no longer having the shifting problem. I say go ahead and put the 3200 in.

Re: vig3200 stall and obd1 problems??

Pcm4less like they said...you'll be sending it back for more if you don't go 3200 and you drag race and aren't real conservative.......how often do you drive WOT??? I drive WOT almost all the time...then you never even feel the stall till it hits...slow accleration driving will feel different.....so if you go WOT alot like i do definately keep it..........there was no question with me though....i had to have the big stall . I say keep it you won't be sorry.....2800 is good for daily driving and takes a little getting use to the 32 does, but lighting them up is real fun.....just be careful around cops......with my nittos, i was leaving McD's where i use to work....i saw the row of cop cars, hell they were standing there. i kid you not 1/4 throttle......spun them......next thing i know cop in my mirror at the gas station i just pulled in like one block down. I could have beat him lol I had seen him many times, i think he knew me too or looked familiar--small town. He was like i'm going to have to write you up for reckless driving....i was like what the hell....i didn't feel them spin at all (no noise because i think they were coated in sand)....it's that stupid sand you get on normal streets and parking lots....nittos pick it up and spin easier than normal tires. I was like "i'll see you in court....he walked to his car with his tail between his legs....lol. I'm not stupid....private parking lot....they would have to press charges and since i know the ower, he wouldn't press charges on me for something so silly.

Bottom line be careful not to light them up around cops......any other time let her rip to 3200-3400 and you'll be happy as can be.

By the way i didn't see a performance gain with his tune at all. Actually my top end is way down for some reason. Probably not the tunes fault.....also i had added other performance parts like stall and gears and tune and gained .5.....i figure it was from the stall and the .26 60' reduction. But it's worth it to correct for gear change or stall issues...that's why i did it. He solved both of those problems....the main reason to do it--not really a performance mod IMO
