M6 conversion people in here... my firewall is cracking!
I had to rebuild my McLeod master cylinder yesterday. When I removed the hydraulics, I noticed something crazy... the firewall was cracking right around the area where I drilled the holes for the master cylidner! I'm guessing I'm gonna have to get it welded and then put some kind of metal plate over this.
Anyone else have this problem? How did you remedy it? Thanks!

Is the bracket that hangs down off the pedals on the firewall where the nuts go? The bracket acts as a reinforcement. If not, there's your problem.

The bracket is there, and it still cracked. Turns out this is a common problem with T56 conversion cars. Doesn't happen to everyone, but it still happens to many.
The solution: I went to Ace and picked up some 1/8" weldable steel for about $10. Cut it into a shape that gave the maximum surface area, and then mounted it between the firewall and the pedal bracket.
Pedal is now ROCK SOLID and gives a great overall feel, all the way up to 6200 RPM
