lockup at w.o.t

when running at drag strip in drive not o.d is the lockup feature working thus reducing rpm thru traps approx.300 rpm. ? car runs 13.92 @99.1 and im looking for 100+mph trap speed .any info. would be helpful. also has any tried the cheap mod that was suggested in the final grapes of wrath article using aradio shack inline switch to disable the lockup?

Yes, your stall will lock up at 95 mph. You can disable it, but in most cases you won't see a difference. FWIW, I was trapping higher with a locked up converter, but mine locked up earlier than 95.

The only reason I see for doing that mod is if you want more top end. I did it with my 700r4 in my 86 Camaro with 4.10 gears and it does help if you want to go insane top end speeds at wot I also tried the lock up in 3rd gear at the track and I slowed down.
