How hard to change output shaft (T-56)

I am looking at a T-56 from a guy and it needs a new output shaft. The splines are bent due to his driveshaft builder making the DS too short.
What all does it take to take out and put in the output shaft.
Any help would be greatfull.
Thanks Brad

No, its not that hard to replace the output shaft. First thing that I would do, it price a output shaft. You might be able to buy a good used trans for about the same amount of money. Second, you will not need any special tools for this job except a 5/16 punch, for the shifter. Then the output shaft should just slide out. Bob

This can NOT possible be right! I am about to change out my output shaft and I looked over the T56 manual and there are about a million other things you have to do to get that shaft out! Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Ok, first off you take off the shifter, and punch out the roll pin, then pull off the tail shaft. Then take off the lid. There is a snap ring holding on the syncro, punch out the roll pin, and take off the syncro. After the syncro is off take out the rollar bearing and the bearing race. Take the quill off that holds on the imput shaft. pull the imput shaft out, then the main shaft should be able to slide out the top.
