an ISSUE WITH MY 94 Z28... ANY IDEAS

I have never really had major issues when it comes to cars. I jus got a 94 z28 in august. Lately i have been having issues with the low coolant light. I have checked it and was always fine. I checked it today and it was realllly low.... And was having transmission "like" issues. Revving higher than usual. Filled the coolant. Step on the gas from a stop and engine seems to lag it. Im still having the same issues. And light is still on.. Any ideas what might be going wrong ?????

when you filled it, did you make sure to bleed it? theres two screws that you open and you have to let the coolant come out of them until there's no air bubbles. did you check to see if you had a leak, or was it just low? also, the coolant level sensors are pieces of **** and get dirty and go off all the time. on my 96 z28 the light comes on even though its full.

other than that your revving higher than usual wont have anything to do with the coolant related stuff. when you say higher than usual do you mean at idle? maybe your idle set is off or something.

also details might help - is it a 6spd, or is it an a4. obviously it has an lt1 since its a z28

When the low coolant light came on, where did you check the coolant level - in the radiator, or in the reservoir? The level sensor is on the passenger side radiator end tank, a couple inches below the fill cap. Checking the reservoir won't tell you if the radiator is full.

This isn't really an "Advanced Tech" question... I'll move it to "General 1967-2002 F-Body Tech".

It is an automatic. The coolant situation seems to be taken care of. The revving is still an issue. Now it seems like it is not shiftin at all. Maybe i am jus not feeling the shift, but rpm jus revs higher than usual when im moving, and doesnt show each gear shifting. When idle its normal. Hesitates from a stop. Im thinking it something dealing with the transmission. Any other ideas??? And it is a stock lt1/ no mods whatsoever. Appreciate the help

Didn't get anywhere in "General 1967......." forum. Let's try moving it to the "Drivetrain" forum, since that's the only problem you still seem to have.

It sounds like your tranny is starting to slip...have a tranny shop check it out. How many miles on the car? When your tranny starts to slip..it's just going to get worse...I remember having only 1st and 2nd gear only when my tranny finally gave it.

Update on z28 issues. New issue developed. Still has shifting issues. When i drive it for about half an hour. And park and turn it off, i turn it on and goes back to normal. Shifts properly and revs properly. Another thing, i parked and turned it off. Try to turn it back on, and wouldnt start. Sounded like gas was goin through, jus didnt turn over. Any other ideas.... Thanks to everyone for the input.....

did you check your......

check to see if your thermostat is not opening....and also obviosly if you have sediment in your fluid from tap water you will probably want to flush the system. Have you looked for leaks on your driveway where you normally park there also might be a leak in your heater hose (pray there isn't! Pain in the ***!) start the car with the radiator cap off and check for flow, if the water pump is leaking you could loose a lot of fluid there and want to take care of it asap cause its leaking onto your distributor.
I have had my '94 Z28 since '02 and have had to replace almost the whole coolant system it seems. My resevoir tank still has hole in it.....LOL
