I can't shift into third while racing (T56) v.ouch

I did a T56 conversion a few months ago and everything went smoothly. Bought it used from this forum, etc.

This past weekend I went to the track to get some new times. I think I passed around 10 times and I MISSED THIRD GEAR on all 10 It would either shift into 5th gear, or THE worst, go into first gear That was the first feeling I've experienced in my life... the car simply shook all over the place, my rev limiter was pegged and the clutch suffered a lot. Good thing nothing happened...

Anyways, this only happens WHEN racing... the second I step off the track, third gear shifts normally I think I have to be getting near the redline for this to happen.

Last night my buddy told me he wanted to race me from a roll. We started in second gear and BAAAAMMM, FIRST gear again!!!

Something has to be wrong with my tranny or is it me?! Could it be psycological? I simply can't get into third gear while racing

I have a Pro 5.0 shifter and a 95 T56.

maybe the shifter is not aligned properly in it's housing?

Some people should stick to automatics No offense meant but if it shifts fine on the street it sounds like operator error.

I've bombed a few shifts myself, but the problem lies with the driver, not the tranny . I have a freshly re-built T56, and this can still happen, so TRUST ME, it's NOT the tranny .

Practise .

You probably need to find a new "angle" to hit the shifter at to do the 2-3 shift. I don't know if you use the "death grip" approach, or if you simply "palm and push" it, but the latter is the better technique ... it allows the tranny to do the "work", and you simply "guide" it where it needs to go.

One more time, Practise .

sorry to dish you but you need to know shifter. 1/2 you need to push left. 3/4 it goes by itself if put it in neutral. little to right goes to 5/6. when car sitting still go 1/2 put in neutral. it goes to right by it self than go up thats third gear.
