Hurst Short throw problem?
Hurst Short throw problem?
I just put in my hurst comp plus shifter in my 95 z28 and i like the way it feels but when i took it for a test drive it kind of felt like something was out of wack. When you are driving through any gear, after the clutch is fully engaged and you are fully in gear, it feels like there is an ever so slight grinding. I had to turn the radio off and really get close to the shifter to hear it. You can also just barely feel it in the shifter. Is this normal? I read the instructions and it didnt say anything about adjusting shift points or anything like that. Did i miss something? Thanks
Its normal for the aftermarket shifters to transmit a bit more gear noise than the stock shifter. They eliminate the big rubber bushing at the base of the stick, increasing the noise transmitted up the stick. Although you say you "feel" grinding, but then you got close to the shifter to "hear" it.
Did you keep the little nylon cup in the hole on the shift rail?

The Hurst Comp+ was their first shifter for the F-Body T56. I bought one in maybe 1995. It has no "stops" on it. I thought they replaced the Comp+ with the Billet+, which did have adjustable stop bolts..
You did put a bead of RTV on the top of the tranny surfaces as a "seal"?
