how to work ALL the factors in to stall speed?

how to work ALL the factors in to stall speed?

I need to pick out a converter pretty quick. But I am having a hard time deciding. The stall varies when you factor in weight and gear ratio. Then you add in first gear ratio of the trans as well as torque the motor makes, etc. Too much for picking the ideal converter...

Here's my specs...what do you think?

Car weighs 2700lbs
LT1 motor, will be getting heads and cam in the next couple weeks (something along the lines of a XE236/242)
700r4 trans with 3.06 first gear
4.10 rear gears

Generally I'd pick one a few hundred RPM below peak TQ of the motor, but I'm not sure how that changes when you figure in the rest of the info...

help!

You need to give all the info to the person building the converter and hope they get it right. Unless you have a very standard combo, it's not uncommon to have the first one be too loose or too tight. In that case, it's take it out, send it back, and then reinstall it.

My guess would be to pick a good converter then go about 1 step looser. It's light, powerful, with good mechanical advantage. An off the shelf converter will NOT stall as advertised in that combo.
Like Rich said: call some companies and see what they say.
