How much less for rebuilt tranny if i supply kit?

I have a local guy who is going to rebuild my tranny for $350 using his parts--i am letting him rebuild it because he rebuilt my tranny in my 94 b4c camaro and it held up great-he only charged $300 then but now it's $350---i am just wondering how much less he would charge if i supplied the kit because i wanna by a alto red eagle 8 clutch pack master rebuild kit for him to install---i'd sasy at least $50 less beacause he proibably just uses the oem kit although i did have him put kevlar band in last one at no extra charge

As a rule, MOST transmission builders hate it when you supply your own parts. I know I use very specific parts in all my rebuilds, and wouldn't appreciate anyone trying to supply their own.

Also, some of the "performance" parts you listed aren't what I'd use in a racing rebuild...The Kevlar band is great if you WANT to lose 2nd and 4th gear. I prefer to use a good band, so they hang around a little longer
The 8 pack 3-4 clutch arrangement is definitely NOT the correct way to go, either.

So what's the problem with using the Kevlar band? I've got one soaking in tranny fluid right now ready to install. Please do tell!

The material is too hard, and causes them to burn up prematurely. Alto "red" lined bands are far superior to the kevlar lining.
