Help with a problem trans or converter?

Here is the story....

First tried a TH350.....witha 4500 9" converter. It was too tight so I went to a 5500 8"

Then I thought the trans was slipping so I bought a new trans....still does the same thing.

Leave the line, the car goes right up in rpm but is very slow. Cut a 1.52 60' I bought the new trans b/c I thought the old one was slipping. I am shifting at 6500 and the car went through the top end about 7400. Only ran 112. 7.30 in the 1/8 at 100 and a 12.0 up top.

It has gotten worse and worse......over 4-5 runs.

sound like I need another conveter? I have one I'm going to try this week. I'm fed up with this thing.

5500 is what I need.

The one I had was just too loose. So I borrowed another one today...see how it does next week and hopefully eliminate the converter.

Maybe I'm just making way more power than what I thought.
