Unhappy got a trans prob - need a little help.

Ok, yesterday im driving at about 10-15 miles an hour and i give it about 3/4 gas, and for a second it pulls real hard like normal. Next thing i know, it stopped pulling and the engine quickly revved to about 6k. The car was not spinning rubber, it just stopped pulling. After that happened i let it drop to 1500k and it drove like normal again. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is wrong with my trans? or is it something else? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Could possibly be a problem with your 2-4 band being on it's way out.

i have been told it could be the clutch inside of the trans. Is that what u mean by "2-4 band"?

2ND and 4TH use a band in a 700/4L60E. The band wraps around the reverse input housing. When it applies, it stops the housing from turning. This is what gives you a 1-2 upshift and a 3-4 upshift. There is no "cluch" for 2nd gear, although the forward clutches are holding in all forward gears. There's a very slight chance that a valve may be hanging up, also.
You might want to try a service on the transmission. Dropping the pan will give you an excellent visual of what kind of condition the transmission is in. If your fluid is dark, or smells burnt, you know you've got a pretty serious problem. Also check for metal debris on the magnet, in the pan. If the fluid looks OK, and there's no debris, it may be a simpler problem.

Check things out a little further, and let me know what you come up with. I'll help as much as I can
